Aerolase offers the next generation of laser technology with the LightPod laser systems. Our lasers offer very high power in a uniquely gentle pulse duration, reducing patient discomfort while making laser services safely available to darker skin types. LightPod lasers are also uniquely compact, portable and maintenance-free. Aerolase has a large international base of customers and has begun building a network of distributors, but for now any prospective purchasers of our lasers should contact us directly at our New York headquarters.

Onychomycosis is a common disorder of the nails. Treatment modalities include oral and topical antifungals, surgical treatment or a combination of these therapies. Cure rates remain low with relatively high relapse rates seen after successful treatment. But a new advance in laser technology has proven to deliver higher levels of clinical efficacy, without the side effects of drugs or the treatment pain of older laser technologies.

This new technology is the LightPod Neo laser, an Nd:YAG 1064nm laser. The Neo is unlike other lasers of the same wavelength as it uniquely delivers very high fluences in a shorter pulse duration – enabling a more rapid heating and greater destruction of the fungal material in the nail bed, while also dramatically reducing treatment pain as compared to longer pulsed Nd:YAG lasers.

The Neo is unmatched in its ability to deliver these higher fluences in larger spot sizes than prior 1064nm laser technologies. For example, the Neo can generate as high as 225 joules/cm2 of fluence on a 2mm spot, or up to 41 joules/cm2 on a 5mm spot, without the need for cooling during treatment. This simultaneously allows for higher efficacy and quicker treatment times; an average toenail or fingernail will require less than 30 seconds to treat, and will generally need to be treated 1-2 times with treatment intervals of approximately 3 weeks.
