LightPod® Era™
Profound Facial Rejuvenation with Less Pain and Healing Time

LightPod Era
LightPod Era aesthetic laser delivers profound results in facial skin rejuvenation, involving a single treatment with minimum pain and healing time or through a series of superficial laser peels.

This versatile resurfacing tool allows for efficient removal of wrinkles, age and sun spots, acne scars and cutaneous lesions, erasing years of aging and restoring a youthful appearance to the skin.

LightPod Era combines proprietary MicroPulse-2940™ technology with the inherent benefits of the erbium laser wavelength resulting in minimal downtime combined with efficient tissue ablation. This unique combination makes LightPod Era ideal for treating large pores, spots, wrinkles, scars and cutaneous lesions. Age spots, sun damage, solar lentigos and pigmented lesions are all quite prevalent in the mature patient segment. At the same time, these conditions are very effectively treated by LightPod Era.

The gentle effect of erbium’s 2940 wavelength delivered in short duration pulses allows gentle yet effective treatment of crow’s feet, periorbital wrinkles, smoker’s lines and other perioral wrinkles.

Many indications benefit from a “one-two” effect of using Nd: YAG (LightPod Neo) first to remodel collagen and tighten the underlying dermal tissue, followed by erbium resurfacing.

Finally, LightPod Era is the perfect treatment choice for a wide range of classically medical applications such as acne scars, revision of surgical scars, wart removal, milia, nevi, actinic keratoses, seborrheic keratoses, syringomas, carcinomas and other cutaneous lesions.

Applications

Laser peels

Laser peels
The outer layer of the epidermis is removed in a brief, easy procedure with complete skin regrowth in a day or two. The treatment can be repeated 2-3 times to remove sun damage and fine lines.

resurf

Gentle skin resurfacing
Several layers of the epidermis are removed in a gentle procedure with the use of topical anesthesia or local injection. Pain and healing time are minimized yet the results are profound in just one treatment.

Bleph

Resurfacing in conjunction with blepharoplasty
Gentle skin resurfacing (see above) can be combined with blepharoplasty to achieve total periorbital rejuvenation, with a more complete cosmetic enhancement as compared to blepharoplasty alone.

acne

Acne scar reduction
Shallow and deep pitted acne scars can be removed or reduced with spot treatment by the laser, combined with gentle resurfacing of the surrounding skin tissue.

Scar minimization

Scar minimization
The LightPod Era can be applied to fresh (just sutured) surgical incisions to smooth the skin surfaces along the incision and stimulate new collagen growth in the underlying tissue, resulting in less visible scar formation afterwards.

lesions

Cutaneous lesion removal
A wide variety of cutaneous lesions can be removed with spot treatment by the laser, which may be combined with gentle resurfacing of the surrounding skin tissue.

How Does LightPod Era Reduce Treatment Pain and Healing Time?

Skin resurfacing with LightPod Era lasers is an easy and comfortable procedure for both patient and physician. This laser is uniquely designed to deliver laser energy to the tissue in such a way that allows the skin to cool between pulses – resulting in high efficacy treatment with industry-leading minimization of treatment pain and healing time. In most cases LightPod Era treatments require only a topical anesthetic. This is in contrast to bulky, expensive lasers that employ scanners, causing high-speed pulse-stacking that tends to cause non-uniform ablation and overheating due to excessive speed, resulting in substantially more treatment pain a higher potential for uneven erythema as well as a greater risk of scarring.

The laser can be used on a full face or on a small area for resurfacing without producing a demarcation line. This allows for efficient combinations of laser resurfacing with other cosmetic procedures such as blepharoplasty, rhinoplasty and others, as well as with Botox treatments and the use of fillers. As a case in point, 100-micron ablation in the periorbital area with LightPod Era typically takes less than 15 minutes and results in removal or dramatic reduction in wrinkles, sun & age spots, acne scars and/or cutaneous lesions. For those patients who are not satisfied with the gradual improvements of repetitive non-ablative facial rejuvenation, skin resurfacing with LightPod Era is the ideal solution.

From a scientific standpoint, LightPod Era Erbium skin resurfacing is the most efficient and modern technology for treatment of sun damaged skin as well as superficial and moderately deep wrinkles on the face, neck, chest and hands. Light energy at the wavelength of 2940 nm is almost 100% absorbed by water (16 times more than with a CO2 laser), allowing physicians to use the laser irradiation to treat only the top superficial layer of skin without inflicting a thermal injury to the surrounding tissue. Patients with Fitzpatrick skin types I to III are ideal candidates for treatment with the Er:YAG laser. However, because of the minimal thermal damage created by the Er:YAG laser, patients with skin types IV and V may also be treated with a lower incidence of postinflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Profound results in as little as a single treatment session, coupled with minimal procedural discomfort and healing time compared to previous technologies, has made Erbium resurfacing one of the most popular facial rejuvenation procedures.

Aerolase customer testimonials

“I have had the opportunity of evaluating the LightPod Era laser in my clinical practice for over three years. We have found the system to be user friendly and well tolerated by our patients. … We have treated numerous patients with this device and have had very nice clinical results following the procedure and are routinely utilizing it in our photorejuvenation management. We would recommend the LightPod Era as a device for other practitioners if they are considering an Erbium laser for their practice.”

“I have used the LightPod Era in my clinics for over three years... My experience with several different Erbium lasers was pleasantly extended with the use of LightPod Era… It has given me the flexibility to move the device between my offices to use for skin resurfacing and removal of benign, pre-malignant lesions and superficial skin cancers. I have used it for resurfacing of periorbital area and to remove growths like Seborrheic Keratosis, Solar Lentigines, Actinic Keratosis, Xanthelasma, etc.  I believe the LightPod will generate great interest and enthusiasm among physicians dealing with cosmetic issues of skin and for those who want to start using lasers..."

“It has now been over three years since the LightPod Era laser was introduced into my practice and I am very pleased with its use. The most unique aspects of this laser are its portability and effectiveness. I have been able to treat many regional areas of the face for superficial lentiges as well as more advanced photoaging of the periocular and perioral skin. I find the limited thermal damage to produce less erythema compared to CO2 laser and discomfort is easily managed with local anesthesia. Patient acceptance has been enthusiastic as well. This laser system adds flexibility to my practice because it is easy to treat multiple patients in several of our treatment rooms including our operative suite because to its compact size. It is obviously the most easy laser to move between my two office locations…”

"I had the pleasure of using the LightPod Era Laser in my office for over three years. I found the instrument to be easily portable, easy to use and effective with a wide margin of safety. …Its simple control and easy to read display panel make it possible for even the novice to operate this instrument. I have found the Era to be very effective in diminishing rhytids, blemishes and scars and in general toning up sagging skin. The minimal thermal damage gives a wide margin of safety and results in very rapid healing. Compared to the CO2 laser the Era causes much less thermal damage and much more rapid recuperation. Compared to microdermabrasion and chemical peels the Era’s technique is less messy and gives more constant results. Patients are pleased that there is only a brief period of erythema and that only one treatment session is necessary for profound results. … My patients are especially pleased with their final appearance and minimal inconvenience. From surgeon’s perspective the LightPod Era Laser is a patient pleasing, revenue enhancing, cost effective addition to one’s practice. It may be used alone or in combination with blepharoplasty or other cosmetic procedures."
